Bob Keith

Bob spent most of his working career in the high technology world with the IBM Corporation. After graduating from Brown University with a BA in Sociology, Bob was hired by Aetna Life Insurance as a Systems Analyst in the rapidly growing and expanding computer industry. He moved to IBM in 1965 and worked in numerous technical and marketing jobs throughout the New England states. His career took him from Hartford to Poughkeepsie, NY, to Portland, ME, to Boston, MA, and then back to Hartford. Bob retired in 1993 as an Account Executive having worked in and served the major insurance companies in Hartford, CT.

He and his wife Pam moved from Farmington, CT to retire in Lake Lure in 1999. In retirement, Bob strongly believes in service to the community. Upon his arrival in Lake Lure, Bob joined the Fairfield Mountains Chapel and served on its Elder Board. Early on he volunteered with Fairfield Mountains VFD as a firefighter/first responder and is still involved today. For several years Bob also coordinated activities for the Newcomer's Club, was President of Rumbling Bald's HOA, served on its Recreation Committee, and co-founded the Lake Lure Olympiad annual sports festival that began in 2005 and continues today.

Lending his expertise to local government, Bob served on the Rutherford County EDC, the Town of Lake Lure's Lake Advisory Board, and held the position of Mayor of Lake Lure for eight years. Serving his community, Bob headed the Lakefront Homeowners Association for several years, and after his mayorship, held/holds positions on the Chamber of Hickory Nut Gorge board, Rutherford County Hospice board, Rutherford County Carolina Foothills Foundation board and Hickory Nut Gorge Foundation board. He truly believes in community support and looks forward to participating in the success of the Carolina Foothills Foundation.

Bob and Pam have three children and nine grandchildren, three of whom got married in 2023.
