Forest City, N.C. - March 17, 2023: The Carolina Foothills Foundation’s (CFF) Eldercare Home Care Agency is now assisting with ramps, life alert, home-delivered meals, and home care to seriously-ill individuals ages 65 years old and older in Polk and Rutherford County.

The agency just completed its first portable ramp in Rutherfordton, N.C. for Michael Keck and his wife Karen, enabling him to have egress from the back of the house. The Eldercare team also repaired the Keck’s front ramp and Michael is finally able to leave his home safely.

“The need for these services in our area is extreme and Eldercare is here to help. We encourage people to contact us for assistance and to take advantage of these services if you need them,” emphasized Heidi Owen, CFF Eldercare Home Care Agency executive director.

The agency provides extra support for seriously-ill patients ages 65 and older to enhance their ability to remain in their own homes. Qualifying patients must also live in a private home, not a facility, in Rutherford or Polk County and need home care assistance from a certified nursing assistant, meal assistance, and/or assistance obtaining a medical alert system. Additional services are also available.

Anyone interested in learning more can call the Carolina Foothills Eldercare Home Care Agency at 828-222-4375 or visit www.carolinaff.org. Fees for service are on a sliding scale and no one will be turned away because of an inability to pay.

The Eldercare Home Care Agency is funded by The Carolina Foothills Foundation and all proceeds from the Carolina Foothills Eldercare Resale Shop in Forest City, N.C., formerly known as the Hospice Resale Shop. Donations to the program, which are tax deductible, are also encouraged and accepted.
